Where history meets adventure

The grand vision of Belfast linen merchant Henry James Campbell, Lorne began it’s life in 1873 as an elegant family estate, named after the Scottish homeland of the Campbell Clan.

Lorne’s story didn’t stop there. After Mr Campbell died in 1889, the house remained the family home until Girlguiding Ulster boldly purchased the estate in 1946. What followed was a remarkable revival – volunteers worked tirelessly to breathe new life into every corner of the 21 acre estate. By June 1947, Lorne was officially opened by Her Grace, the Duchess of Abercorn, and became a vibrant hub for camps, trainings and adventure.
